Reha with Lehár
Opening Night: August 1, 2018
When Franz Lehar, king of operetta, composed „You are my hearts’ delight“ in 1923 he had an idea that the aria would be a huge musical success. He was not at all aware, though, that this song had an extraordinary therapeutic effect at the same time.
It took a genius, a polymath, a luminary, to solve this mystery.
It took a Prof.Dr.Maringer.
He realized almost 100 years later that Lehar must be taken literally, and that this aria is not to be understood as a cheesy expression of love, but expresses the important basic trust of the cardiac patient to his cardiologist.
Such admittedly fantastical theses should best be treated in a scientific congress, the professor thinks.
However, when he philosophizes about the amazing coincidence of spas and operetta performances, when he makes fun of merry widows or tests his latest body-percussion massage on his assistant, the event starts to get out of hand.
And the audience can’t be so sure anymore: is this a lecture, a therapy session, or are we turning into actors in an operetta ourselves?
The musicians of CrossNova turn out to be true music therapists who hit the nerves and hearts of the listeners playing Lehar’s classics like you’ve never heard them before.
