Oniweig – The poor soul of the lake
Symphonic poem for orchestra and speaker
Text and music by Christian Brandauer
Opening Night: August 29, 2019
Location: Kongress & TheaterHaus Bad Ischl
Myths and legends are part of the Salzkammergut, as is the Eiffel Tower in Paris: Composer Christian Brandauer will premiere the symphonic poem ONIWEIG as part of the Lehár Festival in 2019. As a literary model served him the Salzkammergut legend of the “Witch of Altaussee”. Musically, the romantic composition combines elements from “The Flying Dutchman”, “Orpheus in the Underworld” with echoes of traditional folk music, which merge with new levels of sound. An exciting, entertaining and unique musical journey through the nature and legendary world of this unmistakable area is guaranteed.
Born in Ausseerland, the musician, composer and author can also be heard as a speaker this evening. The work is played by the Franz Lehár Orchestra in large cast and was composed especially for the Lehár Festival.
